Marsh Gibbon Silver Band Celebrated its 150th Anniversay in 2015!

Our 150th Birthday Anniversary Concert was a fantastic evening of music, with special guest Ailsa Russell and the first ever performance of the "Sesquicentennial Suite for Marsh Gibbon Silver Band" - a specially commissioned piece composed by Adam Hebditch.

A Festival of Brass....Wow! What a day!

To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the band, we staged a "Festival of Brass" at Marsh Gibbon village hall on Saturday 1st August, running right through from 12 noon to 5pm.  5 great local bands played at this historic event - Abbey Brass, Bedford Concert Brass, Bletchington Silver Band, Foresters Brass 2000 and of course....Marsh Gibbon Silver Band!  A wide variety of entertaining music was played, from brass band classics to film themes and popular classical works. Each band had their own set, and there were several massed band performances too.

Without doubt, the Festival was one of the biggest and best events in the history of Marsh Gibbon Silver Band.  The music was fantastic, with some stunning solo and massed band performances.  The players and conductors all hugely enjoyed the day, as did the audience - judging by the standing ovations!

A huge "thank you" goes out to everyone that helped in the staging of the Festival - players, conductors, organisers, people helping in so many ways behind the scenes and of course the audience.  We really appreciated everyone's efforts to make the event the success that it was.
